| Q |
Are there some people who cannot be hypnotised? |
| A |
It can be difficult to hypnotise people who are very drunk, out of their heads on drugs, or people who have far below average intelligence, as well as people who just don't want to be hypnotised. |

| Q |
What is hypnosis? |
| A |
Hypnosis has been used for thousands of years. It is a natural state of mind, an altered state of consciousness. You are not asleep, nor are you wide awake, but you are always in control of yourself. You may feel a deep state of relaxation coming over you. You may not feel that anything is happening to you; this does not mean that you are not in hypnosis. |

| Q |
What is hypnotherapy? |
| A |
A hypnotherapist uses hypnosis as a powerful tool, not as a cure. Hypnotherapy is simply a therapy, which uses hypnosis to facilitate change in a person, but only if that person wishes to change. |

| Q |
Are drugs or tablets used? |
| A |
No. |
| |
| Q |
Is hypnosis safe? |
| A |
Yes. Hypnosis has no unpleasant or unwanted side effects, nor is it addictive. |
| |
| Q |
Will I be in control of myself and be aware of what is happening? |
| A |
Yes. When in hypnosis you will be in control of yourself. You don't go to sleep, you don't go under, nor do you go into a trance. You are not unconscious. You cannot be made to do or say anything that you don't want to. You can hear everything that is being said. You are in control. |
| |
| Q |
After a session, will I remember what happened? |
| A |
Yes, most people remember what was said by them and by the therapist. |
| |
| Q |
Does the hypnotherapist have to touch me? |
| A |
The vast majority of therapists are ethical. If they need to touch you they should first seek your permission. Then, they should only touch you on the neck, the forehead, the wrist, and the back of your hand or your knee. A hypnotherapist has no business touching you outside of these parts of your body. If you are at any time uncomfortable with what the therapist is saying or doing you must tell them to stop. If you have any misgivings about your session, for example if the therapist touches you elsewhere on your body, you must stop the session. | Q |
My religion forbids me to do or take anything that may let me lose control of my mind. Will hypnosis interfere with my mind or my free will? Will I be made to do or say silly things? |
| A |
Hypnosis is a tool, a powerful tool that may help people to use the power of their own mind to solve problems going on in their mind. It does not interfere in your free will. You will not do anything that is not acceptable to you. |
| |
| Q |
Is there a danger that I will be stuck in a trance state? |
| A |
No. You can terminate the hypnotic session at any time you wish. If you were ever left in the hypnotised state by a therapist or by a hypnotic tape, you would either fall into a natural state of sleep, and wake up after a short nap, or you would just return to full consciousness on your own. |
| |
| Q |
How much does hypnotherapy cost? |
| A |
The fees will depend on the location of the therapist, and the length of the sessions. You should expect a professional hypnotherapists fees to be on a par with other professionals such as solicitors and accountants. Consider the fees as a self investment you're worth it. |
