The Therapy

There are two different types of treatment / therapy using Hypnosis.

Suggestion therapy - is normally used for the simpler problems such as stress relief, smoking, nail-biting, pre-exam nerves, boosting confidence, and relaxtion. In the majority of cases, one or two sessions are required with perhaps a booster at a later stage.

Analytical therapy - used to help patients discover the causes of emotional and psychological problems. Analytical therapy or Hypno-Anaylsis takes longer, over a period of a few weeks, with weekly sessions of approximately one to one and a half hours per session. Both therapies may be used during the course of treatment.

Hypnosis may be defined as: " a state or relaxation and concentration
at one with a stage of heightened awareness "

It is a non-addictive power for good, and a natural manifestation of the mind. Hypno-Analysis helps you to discover the cause of your emotional and / or psychological problems, enabling you to remove them from within yourself and thus relieve the symptom(s).

Emotional problems respond particularly well to Hypno-Analysis. The object of Anaylsis is to help you to release from within yourself, emotional anxieties and fear that have, and do hold you back. During the course of therapy some of you may experience "moments of liberating discovery", and others may find the process more gradual and progressive. Since no two patients are the same it is not possible to predict the rate and intensity of emotional release. However, one can be fairly confident that a release may be obtained usually within ten to twelve sessions of Hypno-Analysis. In these cases I mean a lasting release, by finding and removing the causes of your emotional problems, as opposed to the control of the symptoms.

I can think of no reason why you or anyone else should have to tolerate sustained emotional imbalance that is "inside you but out of your control", provided that you are prepared to devote time, money, effort and self discipline to be free of your problem. The use of hypnosis may dramatically accelerate treatment and Analysis, and similiar results may be achieved in a few weeks as would be expected from more conventional "1000 hour" analysis.

Myths and Misconceptions

Many unjustified and unfounded misconceptions and myths exist regarding Hypnosis. It certainly is NOT mythical or magical, and no "swinging watches" etc. are used in therapy. There is NO mystery or mystique in Hypnotherapy and "stage tricks" are NOT employed. Hypnosis is a natural and normal phenomenon with predictable results, and your therapy will be carried out in a comfortable, calm and relaxed atmosphere.

No medication is used or dispensed before, during or after Hypnotherapy.

During therapy you will be aware at all times. At no time can you be made to do anything against your will, morals, beliefs, principles or ethics. There is no question of being controlled, manipulated or influenced whilst in an hypnotic state. In fact it is you the patient who is in charge at all times.

Hypnosis is not a new discovery. It is possibly the oldest healing therapy known to humankind, and most people, including yourself, experience and enter hypnosis on a daily basis. It is an internal mechanism that exists to facilitate equilibrium and emotional balance. In fact it existed long before conventional orthodox medicine.

As already stated Hypnosis is totally natural. It is NOT artificial, you will be able to converse quite freely and normally, and be aware of your surroundings. In fact Hypnotherapy is often referred to as "Conscious Hypnosis" and allows you to be more aware of everything that is taking place. It also allows your senses to become "sharper" and more aware, which may result in higher than normal efficiency.

N.B. If there are any other questions that you want answered, please feel free, without obligation, to contact me. I will happily answer any other of your questions before you decide (at your discretion) to undergo therapy. You'll find my details on the contacts page.

Warning and Guidance

There is a plethora of information on the internet which relates to Hypnosis, Hypnotherapy, Psychotherapy and Psychology.

On the one hand some of the information and claims made are valuable and genuine. On the other hand, some are misleading and in rare cases downright inaccurate. It is not always easy to tell the difference.

The same principle also applies to some people who offer assistance with emotional or psychological forces, but in fact have no credibility or accountability.

As a result of the above it is important for you to be satisfied as to the bona fides of any hypno-therapist you may chose to consult. After all you will be entering a course of therapy that addresses your innermost emotions. The last thing you need or want is an unprofessional and untrained charlatan.

Here are some pointers you might like to consider before deciding to undergo a course of therapy.

When meeting a therapist for the first time

  1. Always ask for references.

  2. Always make sure that the therapist is accredited by a reputable organisation.

  3. Always ask questions and satisfy yourself with the answers. A good therapist will take time to assuage your doubts and give you the information you want to make a decision.

  4. A professional Hypno-therapist will explain the process of therapy.

  5. Always feel"comfortable" and at ease with your therapist. If not, check out another one until you do feel comfortable.

  6. Always take a friend or colleague along if you feel the need for support and security. A professional therapist will have no objection to this.

  7. Always establish that the therapist offers unconditional and total confidentiality. After all your problems are a private matter and not anyone else's concern.

When you have satisfied yourself as to my credentials call or E. mail me to make an appointment.
